my weekend

I have been working on a new scarf this week with the wool I got on a trip down to Hobart when I stopped in at Ross a few weeks back, here is the finished result which my mum is kindly modelling for me!

it's good to have volunteers to model my items!!!

                      Arn't the colours gorgeous! here it is on my bedcover as last nite it was so cold here in Tassie that I had to sit in bed and crochet, winter can be good for some things!!

                              Here is the stamp on a little cardboard bag from Ross

               Their Merino Wool sure is hard to beat too! my scarf sure has kept me warm all day!!

Here is my new Journal that I bought from Allana ovwer at High Maintenance Hippy in her Etsy store, I am addicted to buying her products at the moment as she is so crafty.

                     Here is a gorgeous little pocket that Allana put in the Journal i bought, it even has a vintage type library card that I can pull out and jot down special things on, I think I'll put my cupcake recipe on it!!

                       I am off to make some of my new jewelry items for my etsy store

A busy week......

 I can finally post again after lots of internet trouble! have been having a tempremental internet at home, so fingers crossed this post makes it :)

    My boyfriend and I took a quick trip to Hobart for his work and stayed with his parents the nite,on the way down I thought I would take the opportunity to make my aunty this scarf

                        I am sure my aunty will love this and will keep her warm in Launceston :)

I had a great time in Hobart shopping with my sister and nephew and best friend Moira :) and yes I did of course buy wool down there!!!!

On Saturday morning Tom and I headed down to the fantastic local market "The Farmer's Market" at Wivenhoe :) I bought these little goodies......

The 2 bookmarks are for my best friend as she just loves Kimmi dolls and little dogs


Another order down, a hat made for Tom's mate (who just loves my crochet beanies!!!)

 We are sooo lucky having the Farmer's Market down the road.....

Latest crochet makings........

I decided I wanted to make some more crochet goodies that could be worn! so I flipped through some old patterns and came across this pattern in the "Woman's Day knitting book"

        Here is the photo of the original pattern and vest, even though it is a picture of a young girl the pattern fitted me as I'm only little luckily!!..............

                   Doesn't it suit the beads!!

I wanted to show you this gorgeous little notebook from "Lark" that my good friend Allana got me..

Isn't the little gift Tag sooo sweet from "Belle and Boo" Allana always knows where to find the sweet little treasures :) I turned the gift tag into a bookmark by placing a hole in the notebook and tying the gift tag to the hole!  I have used the notebook to record all of my crochet makings in :)

  Now I am off to buy some more wool on sale at Spotty....

a morning blog.......

I am looking forward to what the weekend brings, I am off to visit my nephew this morning and give him his little scarf with the truck patch sewn on it..........

Yesterday was a good bargain hunt at the oppies in Latrobe, mum and I headed off for a morning oppie hunt. Latrobe is a sweet little town where the store owners display their goodies out on stalls out the front of the shops, this is a sure fine way not to miss a bargain!!!

                              Here is the Art Nouveau book of posters I found at the oppie......

                                           A perfect find for my love of colour......

As the book says, it explains the relationship of colour in the simplest form with blocks of colour placed beside each other that form relationships.

after a weekend of birthday fun and that crochet scarf gift......

  I have had a fantastic 30th Birthday which started last Thursday the 17th Feb, and continued all weekend as I went down to Hobart to celebrate with my in-laws and mum who travelled down with me and my partner on Saturday morning :)
 I must say it was an early start, being up at 6am in the morning to hit the road, it's about a 3half hour drive from Burnie my hometown to Hobart where my inlaws live :)


Here is an amazing painting which Tom's father painted, he is such a talented artist :) I admire this painting sooo much, isn't it sensational :) it sits on the wall in the spare room, what a treat to be able to lie and look at, always a pleasure staying with them

 
Next I gave Mary (tom's mum) her scarf which as you all know I had been busily trying to finish on the Friday before we left.
  Here is the scarf on me when it was finished

Here it is all wrapped in its pretty ribbon to take down for Tom's mum :)

and here it is in its new home, sitting in the hallway of Tom's parents :)

Next my nephew (sister's son) and her partner came to visit us there and my nephew came in modelling the little rainbow scarf I had made for him

here is the scarf on Mary, my mum and mary and I sat all afternoon chatting, laughing and having nice hot cups of tea and bday cake, how could it get any better than that!!

Tom then came home with his new instrument, a bazooki, which he had travelled to Cygnet for which a friend gave him, it is the most beautiful sounding instrument, it is a cross between a mandolin and a guitar I think :)

Then later in the evening we went to Amigos in Hobart for my bday dinner :) was just beautiful as all the family was there, my sister and partner and baby memphis, hannah and tom and Eliza (tom's sister and her family) and tom's parents and Pat our best friend, my best friend Moggy couldn't make it  as she was at a wedding in Melbourne which I was very excited for her to be going to! Moggy made me chocolate cupcakes and left them for me with pat to give me, she is the absolute sweetest friend in the world and I love our friendship ;) here is a little gift she also left for me...

                                        Thanks Moira for the pressie and choccy muffins, I brought some back to Burnie and even had one this morning with a cuppa!

My sister in law got me a gorgeous chemise that had an amzing tag on it, the tag had the name O'Malley on it which is why she bought it as Tom's surname is O'Malley!!!

Here is me opening a beautiful pressie off my sister and her family, it's a birdcage which is very art deco as it's shabby chic and will go in the spare room at Toms!!!!

A rainbow crochet nappy bag......

Well this morning I put in my granny square earrings and off I went on a mission to hit the oppies in search of old belts in good condition for my new project of crochet bags, I was successful, and found the perfect belt for my sister and her partners baby, both the girls love rainbow, of course because it is a "gay themed" colour!
   The rainbow belt just needed a few adjustments which dad kindly did for me, and I was then off to spotlight for the matching "rainbow colours wool" to match.

  Here is the materials ready to start the nappy bag....

   Arn't these colours so bright and beautiful, it's all the research and obsession with the colour wheel that inspired me to try experimenting with brighter colours.
 I'm glad now that I dug down deep in the basket of belts at my local oppie now, I have learnt to do this with my many oppie hunts, as you should never discard what you can't see, you just never know what could be lurking in the bottom of a basket or container or draw, as in my case it was the perfect find which set me on the road to another project....


Also I wanted to show you all the final finished result of my poncho, even with threads sewn in!

And another finished project which is the granny square hat I made for my nephew who is 8 months old, I added the pom pom for an even cuter effect!

Until my next post, I'm off for a cuppa and then off to stay at my boyfriends where I'll be sat in front of the tv while I crochet to my heart's content trying to finish off that bag I have started as I can then move onto the nappy bag as soon as that is done.
